A Matter Of Importance - Diary Entry #3

February 28:

(Slender's dairy and POV)

I folded my hands at my waist and waited patiently for the others to arrive. They entered quietly, knowing something was up, and took their usual seats at the table. There was little Sally in her pink nightgown, blood staining it, BEN in his Link costume, the monochrome clown Laughing Jack, Eyeless Jack in his black hoodie and black stained blue mask, Masky and Hoody, Jeff The Killer and his dog, Smile. Lost Silver and BOB came in last. There were sometimes more of them here than these, but then again Sally, BEN, Laughing Jack, Eyeless Jack, Masky, Hoody, Jeff, Smile, Lost Silver and BOB were usually always here. Little Girl was also here, but she never killed anyone and didn't really have much to say at this kind of meeting. Trenderman and Splendorman came in after the others, taking the last chairs.

I cleared my throat and all attention snapped to me. "Everyone, as you are aware, I have something important to talk to you about. I would like you all to be calm and -"
"Yeah, yeah, just tell us already Slender!" Jeff snapped angrily, running his fingers over the blade of his knife.
I sighed, so typical of Jeffery. "Jeffery, please, be calm, what I am about to say may shock some of you." I 'glanced' around and noticed that everyone seemed to want this over and done with, very well then. " Fine. I heard a report that a teenage girl was caught in an accident involving toxic fumes and that the fumes dissolved her eyes." I held a hand up stiffly when some of the others started to talk. "Silence!" They went quiet. "This girl has been reported to act quite oddly, as if she does not know her eyes are missing, the nurses say she could walk about without bumping into anything, as if she could still see. Now, I figured this may shock some of you as this has not happened to anyone but Jack and Jane, especially not to a mortal." I stopped to let them get this into their heads.
Jeff's jaw dropped. Sally's eyes widened at the word 'girl'. Laughing Jack burst out laughing. Lost Silver just stared. BEN paused his game and gawped. Masky and Hoody looked at each other. Eyeless Jack tilted his head. BOB didn't seem to know what to do. Smile wagged his tail for a moment then stopped. Trender scratched the side of his head. Splendor clapped his hands then went still when Jeff jabbed him in the side with the hilt of his knife.

I cleared my throat again. "I visited the girl once she was released from hospital, she can indeed see without her eyes. The reason I gathered you all here today is because I would like a vote on whether or not we should bring her in, make her one of us. So, without further ado, let the vote begin. If you are in favour, say Aye, if not, say Nay."

The majority voted Aye, Eyeless Jack was one of those who yelled Aye, which was interesting. Maybe he felt kinship for this girl whom had suffered the loss of her eyes yet could still see the world around her. How scared the child must be, I mused to myself.

"It is decided. The girl shall come and stay with us, though she must pass a few tests first, to make sure she is the right kind of person to stay here."

Jeff would have narrowed his eyes if he could. "What kind of test will she be taking?"
I turned my head to Jeff and tilted it slightly. "She will be observed and if she has sharp enough eyes to see us, she will join us here."

Blood Tears - Diary Entry #2

Date: Unknown

I woke in some kind of hospital room, except the walls were padded and the metal bed poles were covered in foam. My arms were restrained in a jacket I knew all too well; a straight jacket. I sat up slowly and looked around my blank, white surroundings. I felt something wet against my cheek. Something was dribbling down my cheeks, I didn't know what it was, it had a strange texture to it. My mouth then hung open in horror and I screamed.

*Flashback*
I was in after school art and a sixth-former came in with a plate. On that plate was a pigs eye for her project, she had had to draw it or something. After talking to the girl for a bit our art teacher, Miss Bachelor was her usual strange self and asked if anyone wanted to come over and poke the pig eye. I poked it. The eye was rubbery but was also gooey, like it was turning into water.

That texture! That same gooey texture! I began to scream louder, something that felt like tears now streaming down my cheeks to join what was possibly my liquidating eyes. Some staff rushed inside, holding me down.
"What's going on?! Where am I?!" I wailed, not understanding anything. The staff stroked my hair soothingly and murmured such things like 'it's ok, you're safe with us'. After a long while one of them went out and came back with a sponge in some warm soapy water. She began to sponge the liquid from my face, I glanced at the water and saw what I had feared. There, drifting in the water was splashes of bright blue and a gooey white substance, the remains of my eyes.

I began to cry, I'm not sure how, I guess my tear ducts still worked. Soon the two staff, nurses, left. They had undone the straight jacket and took it with them, they gave me a crutch and told me to use it to feel my way about. There were now two things I was uncertain about; one, if my eyes had completely gone, how come I could still see? And two, how long had I been here for?

I huffed and shuffled to the small mirror above a sink. I sat down and stared at my reflection. I don't know how long it was that I sat there, just...staring into the mirror.

I had no eyes, but I had eyelids and lashes, it seemed that whatever happened to me only effected my eyes.

"Charleen, you remember going into near the mines then they exploded, correct?"
I nodded when the officer and Doctors questioned me. We were in a small confined room, the walls were padded, of course, but the officer made no attempt at hiding the gun at his side. It seemed that everyone thought I was going to do something crazy.
The officer nodded and tidied the files up that had been spread across his side of the desk. "Right. I'm sure you know that you are now blind, being as you obviously cannot see. I am afraid that this is permanent. The people here are making arrangements, you can go home soon, being as you passed all the health checks. They will also pay to have someone teach you brail so you can still read."
I once again nodded to the officer.

Home felt amazing after being inside that white walled hospital for so long. I lived in a foster home, but it was home to me, I knew no difference since I had been here since I was three years old. I sat on my bed and curled up, staring at the blank wall as someone with no sight would do; stare blankly. I didn't want to scare anyone by revealing that I could still see, mostly because I didn't want to end up as a lab rat. I sat up and turned my head to the window, it was an upstairs window so no one could be outside it, but there was. A vague shape outside my window. Possibly on the small ledge, but whoever it was must have had a profound sense of balance. I couldn't see them though, it was dark out, so I laid back down and closed my eyes. I convinced myself that I was hallucinating, that the drugs the doctors had fed me for pain and numerous other things hadn't worn off yet. I drifted off soon, wondering about the face at my window.

Photographs Of Me - Diary Entry #1

February 15:

It was yet another ordinary day here at my home, though today I was all on my own except for the dog, Rebel. I was bored though, yes that was ordinary too. I decided to look through some old photo books of me when I was little. After flicking through them for an hour or so I decided to go for a walk up the Neston Woods.

The woods were quiet and pleasantly cool, the rain had long since stopped, though I had brought my water proof just in case it started up again. I reached the large rocky clearing where the entrance to the Neston Mines were located and began scrabbling over the rocks. I knew I wasn't supposed to go right to the door, but I was allowed to go as close as the ledge which sloped down towards the two iron doors, chained shut for the protection of dogs and their walkers as well as to stop idiotic kids from going inside. A strange vibrating noise reverberated through the air. My blue eyes widened and I leapt back, just as the twin metal doors of the mines were forced open and ripped off their rusted hinges by and explosion. A gust of foul smelling air washed over me and I began to hack and cough, choking on what I presumed to be poisonous air. My nails sunk into the muck as I began to crawl away, trying to get to fresh air.

My arms and legs burned like hellfire after hauling myself up a steep incline, but the air was fresher here. My vision swam and I soon passed out, the world fading into a black dimension known as unconsciousness.
